Detachment is such an important aspect of the work you do in an effort to experience your power and the many freedoms that are available to you in your life. So often, through programing and limited perceptions, we tend to look outside of ourselves and blame others for our limited freedoms, which is actually perpetuating our self-imposed confinement and keeps us from experiencing our true power. A key to your empowered freedom begins with accepting that not only can you liberate yourself from limiting beliefs but also you are the only one who can.
The act of reclaiming your power and accessing the keys to your freedom is to take full and complete ownership of who you are, what you believe in, the thoughts you are thinking, the words you are choosing and the ways you are behaving. You must be willing to totally show up for yourself, be your biggest and healthiest influencer in all the ways including begin your (ideal) parent and your (ideal) beloved. It’s also important to begin to learn ways to discern between what is yours and what is not yours.
Whether you’re in a field of work that involves being around a lot of people throughout the week or you’re a healer, coach or spiritual teacher working directly with another or you are in an intimate relationship, you are being exposed to another person’s energy. Whether you're an empath or not, knowing what belongs to you and what belongs to another is vital in the work of detachment.
I am newish to learning ways to discern what is and what is not mine. Rhonda states "One of the most important lessons I have learned through Reiki is how to discern 'what is mine' and 'what is not mine'. I am referring to energy and how taking on someone else's sickness, depression, addiction and negativity can literally make you sick. The importance of keeping yourself healthy through the understanding of techniques and tools available to you through the practice of Reiki (that you can incorporate into your daily life) are vital for you keeping your energy field strong."
When you are ready and willing to see all the ways you are running attachment style behaviors unconsciously through your thoughts, vocabulary and actions you invoke your conscious ability to notice the very point at which you are choosing and it is in this moment that you have the power to do something about it; make the choice to be in support of your empowered freedom instead of acting against it.
When you are ready and willing to see all the ways you are running attachment through your thoughts, vocabulary and actions you invoke your increased ability to notice the point at which you are supporting it and it is in this moment that you can do something about it, by choosing again in support of your empowered freedom.
This simple yet challenging training is easier to implement when you can sprinkle heavy servings of tenderness for yourself. As you dedicate yourself to a practice of making the shifts necessary to support this new way of being, please do so with as much presence as you can muster. Depending on how deeply and widely you want to experience the vast freedom that is available to you, know that you are the most powerful and direct influence on your results according to your willingness to be acutely aware. By repeating the same shifting steps throughout the day, you will increase your skills and become ever aware of the power you have to create the experiences you want to be having, including freedom and oh so much more.
It’s also important to bring to mind your intention for doing and for not doing anything and maintain your attention on your intention. If doing or not doing something is for outside approval this is an attachment. I encourage you to check in with yourself often throughout the day to assess how you are doing, where are your thoughts, what are you feeling and what are you focusing on. It may be helpful for you to hire a coach or consult with a mentor to help keep you accountable and on track.
Until you bring awareness the ways you are acting in accordance to your attachments it can be very difficult to see the ways to untangle from this conditioning on your own.
We have infinite access to tremendous amounts of supportive universal energy when we decide to to step more fully into our powerful creative structure and out of the conditioning and programming that we have been subject to. We are always supported in our choices.
If and when you experience familiar pains of longing and needing and hoping for a certain outcome. Consider ways to set yourself up for success and be prepared to be gentle with yourself if or when you encounter what you may perceive as setbacks. The path of detachment is filled with opportunities to practice detaching. ;)
